SCHOOL MAGAZINES
- Independent School Parent
This magazine cover shows a more refined, sophisticated styling to really highlight that the target audience is for parents, hence why the word parent in the title is in the largest font, despite the first two words being in capital letters and bold. The use of a picture of a child in school uniform is very particular to this genre of magazine, as a child in a school uniform on the cover of a music magazine for example would look incredibly out of place. This magazine uses continuity in the layout of the magazine, however changes the colour theme of some of the writing and headlines on the cover to accompany a certain colour in the background of the magazine cover well.
2. Practical Pre-School
In comparison the previous magazine, this cover is much less refined, using more clashing colours and overall larger, more rounded fonts to appear friendly and fun, which is typical of the less serious subject matter, due to the fact that its a pre-school magazine, made for younger ages with less pressure. The layout of the page is somewhat similar to “Independent School Parent” as it has the name at the top, and uses the headlines to frame the image, drawing attention to one part, usually the face.
